The Winthrop Harbor Emergency Management Agency (WHEMA) is accepting applications from men and women age 18 and older who are interested in helping their community in a volunteer capacity. We currently have several openings for WHEMA Officer positions. WHEMA members enjoy the gratification of public service, plus the benefits of quality training in many areas related to emergency preparedness and management.

Requirements for a volunteer position with Winthrop Harbor EMA include;

  • Minimum age of 18 at time of application
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Ability to pass a standard law enforcement background check
  • Ability to pass a pre-appointment drug test

How to apply for a volunteer position with Winthrop Harbor EMA -

Interested parties must complete an EMA Application Form. The completed form may be submitted in any one of four ways -

  • FAX it to the attention of Ofc. Adam Zeis at FAX # 847-872-0190, or
  • E-MAIL it to, or
  • MAIL it to the Winthrop Harbor Police Dept., 830 Sheridan Rd., Winthrop Harbor, IL 60096, or
  • Bring it to the Police Department in person.

After your WHEMA Application has been reviewed, you will be notified if you qualify for an interview.
