The Aircraft -

All helicopters in the AIR-ONE program are meticulously maintained by FAA certified Airframe & Powerplant technicians with decades of experience. Each helicopter is (or will be) equipped with the latest technologies in thermal imaging systems, color video cameras, search lights, public service (Police & Fire) communication radios, street level mapping systems and more. As funds become available, microwave downlink systems will be installed to provide commanders on the ground with real-time thermal and video images as seen from the airborne platform. Following is a brief description of the AIR-ONE helicopters.

	Bell OH-58C This Bell OH-58 "Kiowa" (N79PD) turbine powered helicopter is registered to and operated by the Winthrop Harbor, Illinois Police Department. It was received from the DoD in November, 2006. Refurbishment has included paint, high skids, engine overhaul, avionics upgrades, Police radios, NightSun search light, FLIR thermal imaging system, and Aero Computers mapping system. 	Bell OH-58C This Bell OH-58 "Kiowa" (N92PD) turbine powered helicopter is registered to and operated by the Byron, Illinois Police Department. It was received from the DoD in January, 2007. 	Bell OH-58C This Bell OH-58 "Kiowa" (N62PD) turbine powered helicopter is registered to and operated by the Stephenson County, Illinois Sheriff's Office. It was received from the DoD in January, 2007. Refurbishment and equipment additions are currently underway. [Bell OH-58 Quick Facts]
	Bell UH-1V This Bell UH-1V "Huey" (N67PD) turbine powered, heavy lift helicopter was received from the DoD in February 2009. It is registered to and operated by the Winthrop Harbor, Illinois Police Department. Refurbishment has included paint and avionics upgrades. The addition of specialized rescue, communications and mapping equipment will occur as funding becomes available.
	Bell HH-1N This Bell HH-1N "Huey" (N88SD) twin-turbine powered, heavy lift helicopter was received from the DoD in March 2011. It is registered to and operated by the Kenosha County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office. The addition of specialized rescue, communications and mapping equipment, in addition to refurbishment of avionics, paint and airframe components, will occur as funding becomes available.
	Eurocopter EC135 This Eurocopter EC135 twin-turbine powered helicopter was the privately owned helicopter which was donated for AIR-ONE missions in the program's beginning. This aircraft was sold in 2007, but remains an integral part of AIR-ONE's history.
