Welcome to the official AIR-ONE Search & Rescue helicopter program web site.

The AIR-ONE Search & Rescue helicopter program supports several agencies who together provide air support to Fire/EMS and law enforcement agencies throughout the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin region. Known by their familiar "AIR-ONE" call sign, these helicopters are frequently called upon by local agencies who would otherwise not have airborne capabilities available.

The Law Enforcement Aviation Coalition (LEAC), which provides the AIR-ONE Search & Rescue program, is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3, charitable organization, managed and staffed by volunteers who are experienced professionals from the aviation, law enforcement and fire-rescue sectors.

As the founding and coordinating agency, the Winthrop Harbor (IL) Police Department provides 24-hour dispatch services for all of the mutual-aid AIR-ONE helicopters. To request air support services, agencies may call the dispatch center day or night using the Air Support Call-Out Procedures. There is no cost to the requesting agency.
