May 18, 2005: Free Gun Locks Available at WHPD

PROJECT ChildSafeThe Winthrop Harbor Police Department is pleased to announce the receipt of 300 gun safety locks from PROJECT ChildSafe, a program of Lt. Governor Patrick Quinn's office. The gun safety locks were donated to the Police Department for distribution to our local residents free of charge.

All of us at the Winthrop Harbor Police Department feel that the safety of the children in our Village is paramount, and we encourage all gun owners to utilize this simple and effective gun safety lock to prevent accidents involving children and guns.

PROJECT ChildSafe is a nationwide program used to promote the safe handling and storage of firearms for all gun owners through safety education messages and free gun locking devices. Click here for details about the PROJECT ChildSafe program.

PROJECT ChildSafeThe free gun locking devices are available at the Winthrop Harbor Police Department twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Any person interested in obtaining a free gun lock may come to the Police Department to obtain one.
