Traffic Arrest-
On 6/17/08, an Officer stopped a vehicle at 7th Street and Fulton
Avenue for failing to use turn signal. The driver, Steven R.
Cowart, 23, of Winthrop Harbor was arrested for driving while
his license was suspended. Cowart was also cited for having no
vehicle insurance. Cowart was later released on a personal recognizance
bond and given a future court date.
On 6/20/08, an
Officer while working contracted services in Wadsworth stopped
a vehicle at Delany Road and Route 173 for speeding. The driver,
Jose M. Avila-Alonso, 27, of Kenosha was arrested for having
no valid driver's license. Avila-Alonso was also cited for disobeying
a no passing zone, no seat belt, and unlawful transportation
of alcohol. Avila-Alonso was later released on a personal recognizance
bond and given a future court date.
On 6/22/08, an
Officer stopped a vehicle at 9th Street and Kimberly Avenue for
playing loud music. The driver, Anthony J. Crutcher, 19, of Beach
Park was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Crutcher was also cited for unlawful possession of cannabis and
unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Crutcher was later
released on a personal recognizance bond and given a future court
date.
Trespassing Arrest-
On 6/16/08, Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of 11th
Street for a report of a man who was trespassing. Upon the Officer's
arrival they arrested, Walter J. Ori, 44, of Waukegan for trespassing.
Ori was later released on a personal recognizance bond and given
a future court date.
Hit and Run Arrest-
On 6/19/08, Officer's were dispatched to the 1100 block of South
Park Avenue for a report of a hit and run accident. Upon the
Officer's arrival they were given a description of the vehicle.
The Officer's were also told the offending vehicle hit the victim's
vehicle while it was parked in their driveway. A short time later
Officer's located the vehicle in the 1100 block of Sheridan Road
and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver, Bradley
A. Berg, 31, of Winthrop Harbor was arrested for DUI. Berg was
also cited for leaving the scene of an accident. Berg was later
released on a personal recognizance bond and given a future court
date.
Disorderly Conduct Arrest-
On 6/21/08, Officer's were dispatched to the 300 block of North
Point Marina Drive for a report of a disorderly person. Upon
the Officer's arrival they arrested, Elizabeth Bell, 60, of Beach
Park for disorderly conduct. Bell was later released and was
issued a local ordinance citation.
