Burglary to Motor Vehicle
Arrest-
On 10/27/08, the Winthrop Harbor special weapons and tactics
team (SWAT), conducted a search warrant in the 1400 block of
Sheridan Road. During the search warrant, Ryan J. Mills, 22,
of Winthrop Harbor and Erica L. Moa, 18, of Winthrop Harbor were
arrested. Mills was wanted in connection with multiple motor
vehicle burglaries in Winthrop Harbor and surrounding areas.
Mills was charged with fifteen counts of burglary to a motor
vehicle, two counts of criminal damage to property, one count
of burglary, and one count of theft. Moa was charged with unlawful
possession of hypodermic needles, unlawful possession of drug
paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Mills and Moa were later transported to the Lake Count Jail for
Bond Court. Mills was held on a $100,000 bond and Moa was held
on a $10,000 bond.
Armed Robbery Arrest-
On 10/28/08, Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Sheridan
Road for report of an armed robbery. The victim told police a
woman came into her store with a knife and demanded money. The
women then made off with approximately $100 dollars. A witness
told police that the woman drove off in a green Dodge Neon. The
woman was later identified as, Brandy N. Lovett, 28, of Kenosha.
Local agencies were notified of the armed robbery and Lovett
was taken into custody by Waukegan Police Department after she
was pulled over in her vehicle. Lovett was also wanted by the
Zion Police Department and Kenosha Police Department for similar
crimes. Lovett was later charged with armed robbery (Class X
Felony) and transported to the Lake County Jail.
Chief Joel Brumlik
credited the arrests due to outstanding cooperation amongst local
law enforcement agencies in both Wisconsin and Illinois, as well
as the hard work and efforts of Detective Mike Falasco, Detective
Lenny Carini and Deputy Chief Tim Borowski who worked seventeen
hours straight to conclude these arrests.
