Traffic Arrests: On 04/13/09, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 8th Street and Sheridan Road for improper lane usage. The driver, Daniel E. Kinsey, 55, of Winthrop Harbor was arrested after he failed field sobriety tests. Kinsey was charged with Improper Lane Usage and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Kinsey was later released by personal recognizance bond pending a future court date. On 04/14/09, an Officer stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of Sheridan Road for an equipment violation. The driver, Paula J. Hinckley, 42, of Winthrop Harbor was arrested for Only One Red Taillight and Driving While License Suspended. Hinckley was later released by a Notice to Appear pending a future court date. On 04/14/09, an Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Deerpath Circle for a report of a traffic accident. The driver, Sheena M. Varner, 21, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. During a search of the motor vehicle, the officer located a glass cannabis pipe. Varner was arrested for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, No Proof of Insurance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Varner was later released by a personal recognizance bond pending a future court date. On 04/18/09, an Officer working a Wadsworth contract detail stopped a vehicle near the intersection of US 41 and Wadsworth Road for speeding. The driver, Carlos R. Nieves, 26, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after providing the officer with a fictitious name. After the officer performed a warrant check, he learned Nieves had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Nieves was charged with Speeding, No Valid Registration, Driving While License Revoked, Obstructing Justice, and Fugitive from Justice. Nieves was later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing. On 04/19/09, Winthrop Harbor Police Department received an anonymous call regarding a possible intoxicated driver. The Officer stopped the vehicle near the intersection of 9th Street and Sheridan Road for improper lane usage. The driver, Eric R. Studdard, 23, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Studdard was arrested for Improper Lane Usage, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Studdard was later released by a personal Recognizance Bond pending a future court date. |
