Residential Burglary, Burglary, and Possession of Stolen Property Arrests: Since the end of 2008, The Winthrop Harbor Police Department began receiving numerous Burglaries to Motor Vehicle incidents which had been occurring in the Village of Winthrop Harbor. The Winthrop Harbor Police Department then began an investigation. Recently Winthrop Harbor Police Department learned from an anonymous person that a subject later identified as Emily A. Machonga, 19, of Winthrop Harbor sold a person a Tomtom GPS unit that was believed to be taken during one of the reported burglaries. After detectives
conducted preliminary interviews and located the Tomtom GPS Unit,
Emily A. Machonga and Clinton M. Hodge, 19, of Winthrop Harbor
were interviewed. During the investigation and interviews detectives
learned Hodge committed at least 12 additional burglaries in
the Village of Winthrop Harbor. Detectives recovered several
stolen items that were taken during the reported burglaries from
Hodge's possession. This incident was later reviewed by the
Lake County States Attorney's Office. Hodge was charged with
Residential Burglary and Burglary (two counts). Several additional
charges are still pending on Hodges. Machonga was charged with
Unlawful Possession of Stolen Property. Hodge and Machonga were
later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.
