Burglary Arrest Leads To the Arrest of Suspects Involved In Over 150 Mailboxes Being Damaged In Winthrop Harbor For the last couple of months, the Winthrop Harbor Police Department received over 150 complaints regarding Criminal Damage to Property involving mailboxes. On 08/16/09, the Pleasant Prairie Police Department received a criminal damage to property complaint that occurred in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. An anonymous complainant identified the suspects' vehicle and provided an Illinois Registration plate. The Winthrop Harbor Police Department was provided this information that led to the vehicle being stopped and the suspects questioned by Winthrop Harbor Police Detectives, who were called in to investigate. Detective Chris Willets learned through the interviews that suspects, Trevor M. Rieker , Eric Danson and Brian H. Nowakowski were responsible for criminal damage to over 150 mailboxes during the past two months in the village. Trevor M. Rieker, 17, of Winthrop Harbor, was charged with Burglary to Motor Vehicle and Criminal Damage to Property as well as vehicle violations. Michael T. Rottmann, 17, of Winthrop Harbor, was charged with Obstructed Registration Plate, No Rear Registration Light, Obstructed Windshield, Criminal Damage to Property, and Burglary to Motor Vehicle. At the conclusion of this investigation, the Detective additionally charged Trevor M. Rieker, Brian H. Nowakowski, 17, of Winthrop Harbor, and Eric S. Danson, 17, of Winthrop Harbor with ten counts each of Criminal Damage to Property. * Additional charges are expected to be obtained after the Lake County States Attorney's Office reviews all the complaints received by Village residents that the police department gathered. Trevor M. Rieker and Michael T. Rottman were later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing. Brian H. Nowakowski and Eric S. Danson were later released pending a future court date. |
