August 24, 2009: Arrest Notices 8/18/09 - 8/23/09

Unlawful Possession of Cannabis / Unlawful Use of a Weapon:

On 08/18/09, an officer approached a suspicious vehicle parked within the 600 block of English Lane. The driver, Richard G. Miller, 20, of Winthrop Harbor, was later subsequently taken into custody after a small amount of cannabis was located within his possession. The officer further located a large butterfly knife in the motor vehicle. Richard was issued adjudication citations for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Richard was released pending a future court date.

Hit and Run Property Damage Accident:

On 08/18/09, The Winthrop Harbor Police Department were dispatched to a hit and run property damage accident within the 700 block of Holdridge Avenue. After an anonymous witness provided a detailed description of the offending vehicle, Winthrop Harbor Police was able to locate the offender, Casandra D. Bermudez, 18, of Gurnee. Casandra was charged with Obstructing, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Failure to Provide Information After Striking an Unattended Vehicle, Failure to Report an Accident to Police Authority, Operation of an Uninsured Vehicle, and Improper Backing. Casandra was later released by a Notice to Appear pending a future court date.

Traffic Arrest:

On 08/23/09, an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding within the 1200 block of Sheridan Road. The driver, Sherrick M. Keys, 21, of North Chicago was subsequently taken into custody after the officer learned Keys had a suspended Wisconsin Driver's License. The officer further conducted a warrant check and observed Keys had a valid Lake County Warrant for Keys' arrest for failure to appear. Keys was issued citations for Speeding and Driving While License Suspended. Keys was later transported to the Lake County pending a bond hearing.
