September 15, 2009: Arrest Notices 9/12/09 - 9/15/09

Traffic Arrests:
On 09/12/09, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 500 block of Sheridan Road for a lane violation. The driver, Shawron S. Thomas, 34, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after a search was conducted by the officer and a small amount of cannabis was located in the ashtray. Thomas was charged with Improper Lane Usage and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis. Thomas was released on scene by a notice to appear pending a future court date.

On 09/12/09, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1400 block of Lewis Avenue for a lane violation. The driver, Victoria D. Walter, 38, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Walter was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Walter was later released by a Notice to Appear pending a future court date.

On 09/13/09, an Officer was dispatched to North Point Marina, lot #3 to investigate a suspicious vehicle. The driver, Fernando Martinez, 19, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after a short chase occurred after the officer attempted to make contact with Martinez. A search of the motor vehicle had been conducted by the officer and a glass cannabis pipe was located on the driver's side floorboard. Martinez was additionally investigated for driving under the influence of alcohol after Martinez failed field sobriety testing. Martinez was charged with Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Damage to State Supported Property, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Martinez was later released by a personal recognizance bond pending a future court date.

On 09/13/09, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 500 block of Lewis Avenue for a registration violation. The driver, Moises L. Mercado, 31, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after a driver's license check had been conducted by the officer. Mercado was charged with Unlawful Use of Vehicle Registration, Operation of an Uninsured Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. Mercado was later released by an Individual Bond pending a future court date.

On 09/14/09, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 800 block of Kenosha Road for suspended vehicle registration. The driver, Keiland L. Walton, 29, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the officer learned Walton had a revoked driver's license. Walton was charged with Operation of Motor Vehicle while Registration Suspended, Child Under Age 8 not secured in Child Restraint System or Seatbelts, and Driving While License Revoked. Walton was later released by a notice to appear pending a future court date.

On 09/15/09, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 9th Street and Kenosha Road for speeding. The driver, Danfer A. Canales, 46, of North Chicago was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Canales was charged with Speeding, Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle, Failure to Notify Secretary of States Office with Change of Address Information, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Canales was later released by a Personal Recognizance Bond pending a future court date.
