Fraud Arrest: On 02/27/10, The Winthrop Harbor Police Department received a walk in Forgery complaint. At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives arrested Tara L. Mills, 24, of Winthrop Harbor. This case was later reviewed by the Lake County States Attorney's Office. Mills was interview and charged with four counts of Forgery. Mills was processed and later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing. Traffic Arrests: On 02/20/10, an officer stopped a vehicle within the 1300 block of Lewis Avenue for not having a front registration plate displayed on the vehicle. The driver, Samantha M. Gonzalez, 18, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody after she failed field sobriety testing. The front seat passenger, Patrick C. Andruszko, 19, of Beach Park, was subsequently taken into custody after the officer smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. A search was conducted by the officer which revealed miscellaneous items of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of cannabis. Gonzalez was charged with No Front Registration Plate, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of Alcohol by Minor, and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. Andruszko was charged with Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol by Minor and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis. Andruszko and Gonzalez were later released by their signature pending future court dates. On 02/22/10, An officer stopped a vehicle within the 200 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. After the officer approached the vehicle, the officer smelled a strong odor of Cannabis coming from inside of the motor vehicle. A search was conducted by the officer, which revealed a small amount of cannabis. The driver, Leandre J. James, 19, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Speeding, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. James was later released on scene pending a future court date. On 02/26/10, an officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 7th Street and Sheridan Road for a lane violation. The driver, Kenneth E. Swim, 44, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Swim was charged with Improper Lane Usage and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Swim was later released by an Individual bond pending a future court date. On 03/01/10, an officer stopped a vehicle within the 200 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, Zedtric D. Cottingham, 27, of Racine, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the officer learned Cottingham did not have a valid driver's license. Cottingham was charged with Speeding and No Valid Driver's License. Cottingham was later released by a personal recognizance bond pending a future court date. |
