PRESS RELEASE


April 6, 2011: Arrest Notices 3/28/11 - 4/3/11

Traffic Arrests:

On 03/28/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1300 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, Shamaine K. Easley, 31, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer located purported crack cocaine, cannabis, and a digital scale in the glove box. Easley was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Speeding, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Attempted Obstruction of Justice, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Easley was later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.

On 03/28/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 200 block of Sheridan Road for an equipment violation. The driver, Jose L. Trejo, 24, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified his Illinois Driver's License was revoked. Trejo was charged with No Rear Registration Light, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Revoked. Trejo was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 03/29/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Ravine Drive and Sheridan Road for only having one headlight. The driver, Nelson I. Santizo-Barrera, 24, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Santizo-Barrera was charged with Operation of Motor Vehicle with Only One Headlight, Driving While License Suspended, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Santizo-Barrera was later released by his signature pending a future court date.
On 04/02/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Burke Drive and Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, Fred W. Anderson, 26, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified Anderson had a valid warrant for his arrest. Anderson was later transported to The Lake Jail pending a bond hearing.

On 04/03/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 8th Street and South Park . The driver, Wasqas A. Bhatti, 25, of Chicago was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Bhatti was charged with Improper Backing and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Bhatti was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

On 04/04/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 900 block of Sheridan Road for registration and lane violations. The driver, Brett A. Halstead, 46, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified Halstead had a revoked driver's license. A tow inventory search was conducted on the motor vehicle and the Officer located cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Halstead was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Operation of Motor Vehicle while Registration Suspended, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Revoked. Halstead was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

Fraud:

On 03/29/2011, an Officer was dispatched within the 300 block of Kirkwood Avenue regarding a Fraud complaint. The complaint advised some unknown person called her telephone, pretended to be her son, and further advised he was involved in a traffic accident in the country of Mexico. The complaint further advised the unknown subject stated he needed $3,500 USD to be able to return to the United States. The complaint stated after she wired $3,500 USD via Western Union; she realized the subject was not her son.

Criminal Damage to Property:

On 03/31/2011, an Officer was dispatched within the 900 Fulton Avenue for a criminal damage to property report. The complaint advised some unknown person(s) damaged the exterior lights. The complaint further advised the damage was approximately $50.00 USD.

On 03/31/2011, an Officer was dispatched within the 1000 block of Sheridan Road for a criminal damage to property report. The complaint advised some unknown person(s) damaged the windshield to her motor vehicle.

Attempted Residential Burglary:

On 04/03/2011, an Officer was dispatched within the 1000 block of South Park Avenue regarding an attempted residential burglary. The complaint advised some unknown person(s) broke the basement window but was unable to make entry into the residence.
