On 04/08/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 9th Street and Lewis Avenue for speeding. The driver, Jeffrey M. Hall, 60, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer located two plastic bags of cannabis inside of the motor vehicle. Hall was charged with Speeding, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis. Hall was later released by his signature pending a future court date.
On 04/09/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 600 block of Sheridan Road for not having any headlights illuminated. The driver, Anthony E. Cofield, 44, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Cofield was charged with Driving Without Headlights, Improper Lane Usage, and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. Cofield was later released by his signature pending a future court date.
False Police Report:
On 04/10/2011, Officers were dispatched within the 3000 block of 9th Street regarding a burglary to motor vehicle. The complaint advised prescription medication was taken from her motor vehicle without her consent. After further investigation conducted by the Officers, the complaint, Amanda R. Tidd, 30, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody after advising she made a false police report. Tidd was charged with Making a False Police Report. Tidd was later transported to The Lake County Jail pending a future court date.
On 04/06/2011, Winthrop Harbor Police Department Detectives were contacted by The Zion Police Department who provided information regarding a juvenile who had committed a residential burglary on or about June of 2010. The juvenile, 16, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was later interviewed by detectives and admitted involvement with two residential burglaries in the Village of Winthrop Harbor on 06/04/2010. A juvenile referral was later completed for two counts of residential burglary against the 16 year old juvenile. The documents were later forwarded to the Lake County Juvenile Depke Center and The Lake County States Attorney's Office.
On 04/09/2011, an Officer made contact with a suspicious subject near the intersection of 7th Street and Kirkwood Avenue. The subject, Adam G. McCreary, 27, of Hainesville was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed he had an in-state arrest warrant. McCreary was later transported to The Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.
On 04/08/2011, Officers were dispatched within the 1200 block of Sheridan Road by an ADT alarm company representative. Upon Officers arriving on location; they observed some unknown subject(s) used a concrete brick to break the front exterior door of the business. The owner of the business reported approximately $150 USD from the cash register and scratch off lottery tickets were taken. The scene was processed by evidence technicians and was pending further investigation.
Criminal Damage to Property:
On 04/10/2011, Officers were dispatched within the 1000 block of Landon regarding a report of a broken exterior window. Upon Officers arriving on scene, the complainant advised some unknown person(s) threw an egg at the window to their residence.
On 04/10/2011, an Officer was dispatched to the lobby at The Winthrop Harbor Police Department. The complainant advised some unknown person(s) broke their passenger side motor vehicle window when it was parked within the 800 block of Fulton Avenue.
