PRESS RELEASE


May 10, 2011: Arrest Notices 5/3/11 - 5/9/11

Traffic Arrests:

On 05/03/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 200 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, a Juvenile, 17, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently charged with Speeding and Driving While License Suspended. The Juvenile was released on scene by her signature pending a future court date.

On 05/05/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 100 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, Alfonso E. Uribe, 29, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed his Wisconsin Driver's License was suspended. Uribe was issued citations for Speeding and Driving While License Suspended. Uribe was later released by a personal recognizance bond pending a future court date.

On 05/06/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1400 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, a juvenile, 17, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified the juvenile did not have a valid driver's license. The juvenile was charged with Speeding, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. The juvenile was released on scene by a notice to appear pending a future court date.

On 05/06/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 400 block of Sheridan Road for an equipment violation and loud exhaust. The driver, James A. booth, 39, of Winthrop Harbor was charged with Driving While License Suspended. Booth was released on scene by his signature pending a future court date.

On 05/07/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 13th Street and Lewis Avenue for failed to yield. The driver, Aaron A. Saucier, 27, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified his Illinois Driver's License was suspended. A search was conducted by the Officer and a small amount of cannabis was located inside of the motor vehicle. Saucier was charged with Failed to Yield, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, and Driving While License Suspended. Saucier was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

On 05/09/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Kenosha Road and 9th Street for an equipment violation. The driver, Brandt R. Byrd, 27, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Byrd was charged with No Rear Registration Light, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Byrd was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

On 05/09/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1300 block of Sheridan Road for having only one headlight illuminated. The driver, Iona-Nicho M. Wilson, 35, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was issued citations for Failure to Secure Child age 8 through 16 in a safety belt and Driving While License Suspended. Wilson was released on scene by her signature pending a future court date.

Theft:

On 05/03/2011, an Officer was dispatched to the lobby at The Winthrop Harbor Police Department to make a theft report. The complainant advised some unknown person(s) withdrew approximately $300 USD from her credit card in California.

Home Repair Scam/Theft of Jewelry

On 05/09/2011, Officers were dispatched within the 2000 block of 11th Street regarding a theft and home repair scam. The complainant advised two male Hispanics approached her at the front door to her residence and advised they were present to pave and repair her driveway. The complainant agreed to the repairs and allowed one male Hispanic to enter her residence to put water in a bucket. The complainant escorted the male Hispanic to the basement; At that time, the second male Hispanic entered the residence and took approximately $32,000 USD worth of jewelry from her bedroom without her knowledge at the time. Shortly thereafter, the male Hispanics poured water on her driveway and advised they would need to leave her residence to retrieve additional equipment to complete the job. The male Hispanics departed in an unknown direction in a black pickup truck. The male Hispanics were between 40 to 50 year of age.
