May 31, 2011: Arrest Notices 5/27/11 - 5/30/11

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 05/28/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 600 block of Sheridan Road a lane violation. The Officer further observed the driver threw an item onto the roadway. The driver, Floyd E. Karns, 59, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Karns was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage, Littering, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Karns was later released by his signature pending a future court date

On 05/28/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 9th Street and Lewis Avenue for a registration violation. The driver, John M. Rodenhiser, 30, of Winthrop Harbor was issued a citation for Driving While License Suspended. Rodenhiser was released on scene by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 05/29/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 900 block of Sheridan Road for a registration violation. The driver, Allen S. Meyer, 42, of Round Lake was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified his driver's license was revoked in the State of Illinois. Meyer was issued citations for Operation of Motor Vehicle while Registration was Suspended, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Revoked. Meyer was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 05/30/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Lewis Avenue and Russell Road for a lane violation. The driver, Hector A. Ruiz, 39, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified his driver's license was revoked in the State of Illinois. Ruiz was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage and Driving While License Revoked. Ruiz was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

Alcohol Compliance Checks:

On 05/27/2011, The Winthrop Harbor Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks with a 18 year old subject at the following local businesses: Smoke For Less (545 Sheridan Road), Harbor Foods and Liquors (644 Sheridan Road), Clark Gas Station (847 Sheridan Road), Marathon Gas Station (901 Sheridan Road), G and G Pantry (1016 Sheridan Road), United Liquor's (1243 Sheridan Road), Lighthouse Pub (935 Sheridan Road), Marathon Gas Station (901 Sheridan Road), Other Place Pizza (1039 Sheridan Road), The Tavern on Sheridan (728 Sheridan Road), The Tropics (301 North Point Drive), Time Out / Sports and Pub (1706 7th Street), and VFW (1112 Sheridan Road). Upon the conclusion of the alcohol compliance checks; all of the above listed businesses were found in compliance and refused to sell liquor to the 18 year old subject.
