PRESS RELEASE


June 13, 2011: Arrest Notices 5/30/11 - 6/5/11

TRAFFIC ARRESTS -

On 5/30/11 at approximately 12:56 AM, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Sheridan Road for making an improper turn. The driver, Joseph R. Newman, 19, of Kenosha was arrested for driving while his license was suspended. Newman was also cited for unlawful possession of cannabis, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and operating an uninsured vehicle. One of the passengers, Anicia J. Morgenthaler, 24, of Kenosha was also arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis along with a juvenile who was arrested for curfew. All parties were later released and were given future court dates.

On 5/30/11 at approximately 12:57 AM, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Sheridan Road for improper lane usage. The driver, Hector A. Ruiz, 38, of Waukegan was arrested for driving while his license was revoked. Ruiz was cited for improper lane usage and driving while his license was revoked. Ruiz was later released and was given a future court date.

On 6/2/11 at approximately 10:18 AM, an officer stopped a vehicle on Kenosha Road at 11th Street for suspended registration. The driver, Carol A. Applegate, 31, of Kenosha was arrested for driving while her license was revoked. Applegate was later released and was given a future court date.

On 6/2/11 at approximately 2:14 PM, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Kenosha Road for suspended registration. The driver, Franco Saldivor-Donoe, 36, of Kenosha was arrested for driving while his license was suspended. Saldivor-Donoe was cited for suspended registration, driving while license was suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. Saldivor-Donoe was later released and was given a future court date.

On 6/3/11 at approximately 5:50 PM, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kenosha Road for speeding. The driver, Michael T. Verenski, 62, of Troy Texas was arrested for driving while his license was revoked. Verenski was cited for speeding and driving while his license was revoked. Verenski was later released and was given a future court date.

On 6/5/11 at approximately 2:29 AM, an officer stopped a vehicle on Sheridan Road at North Park Avenue for improper lane usage. The driver, Kinze D. Bates, 22, of Waukegan was arrested for DUI. Bates was cited for improper lane usage and DUI. Bates was later released and was given a future court date.

On 6/5/11 at approximately 4:12 AM, an officer observed a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway on Old Darby Lane at Roberts Road. The driver, Thomas J. Mabry, 22, of Waukegan was arrested for DUI. Mabry was cited for DUI, DUI over .08, improper parking in roadway and operating an uninsured vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle, Scott L. Labarbera, 20, of Gurnee was also arrested on a warrant for failing to appear on drug charges. Mabry was later released and was given a future court date. Labarbera was transported to the Lake County Jail for the warrant.

On 6/5/11 at approximately 10:34 AM, an officer stopped a vehicle on 11th Street at Sheridan Road for improper lane usage. The driver, Leah L. Sheppard, 48, of Winthrop Harbor was arrested for DUI. Sheppard was cited for improper lane usage, no seat belt, DUI and operating an uninsured vehicle. Sheppard was later released and given a future court date.

DOMESTIC BATTERY ARREST -

On 6/1/11 at approximately 5:45 PM, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of 7th Street for a domestic disturbance. A short time later, Philip L. Varner, 35, of Winthrop
Harbor was arrested for domestic battery. Varner was cited for one count of domestic battery and later was transported to the Lake County Court House for Bond Court.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY ARREST -

On 6/4/11 at approximately 3:57 PM, Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Kenosha Road for a report of criminal damage to property. A short time later a 17 year old juvenile was arrested for shooting out a car window with a pellet which was shot from an Airsoft gun. The vehicle was in motion at the time the window was shot out. The juvenile was cited for criminal damage to property. The juvenile was later turned over to his parents and was given a future court date.

TRESPASSING ARREST -

On 6/5/11 at approximately 7:37 PM, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Franklin Avenue for a trespassing complaint. Officers eventually arrested, Aaron K. Nagirny, 33, of Winthrop Harbor for criminal trespass after he was found inside his neighbor's garage. Nagirny was cited for criminal trespass to real property. Nagirny was later released and given a future court date.
