On 06/22/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1300 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, Nickole M. Borisov, 28, of Jefferson, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified her driver's license was suspended. Borisov was issued citations for Speeding and Driving While License Suspended. Borisov was released on scene by her signature pending a future branch court date.
On 06/25/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 2nd Street and Sheridan Road for not having a rear registration light. The driver, David J. Banak, 38, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Banak was charged with No Rear Registration Light, Expired Motor Vehicle Registration, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Driving While License Suspended, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. The Officer further learned Banak had an active arrest warrant from the State of Iowa. Banak was later transported to The Lake Jail pending a bond hearing.

Road for a lane violation. The driver, Martez E. Brooks, 22,
of Park City was subsequently taken into custody after failing
field sobriety testing. Brooks was charged with Improper Lane
Usage, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Driving While
License Suspended, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, and Driving
Under the Influence of Alcohol. Brooks was later released by
his signature pending a future court date.
Criminal Damage to Property:
The Winthrop Harbor Police Department received approximately
35 complaints of criminal damage to residences, mailboxes, trailers,
and municipal signs that were marked and sprayed with graffiti
of a profane nature. Upon the conclusion of the investigation;
Detectives interviewed and arrested Dakota R. Potts, 18, of Winthrop
Harbor, Mich A. Gehrig, 18, of Winthrop Harbor, Gerhard H. Listander,
18, of Winthrop Harbor, and three male juveniles. The subjects
were each charged with five counts of Graffiti Prohibited and
later released by a notice to appear pending a future court date.
