PRESS RELEASE


August 15, 2011: Arrest Notices 8/10/11 - 8/14/11

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 08/10/2011, an Officer was dispatched within the 600 block of Sheridan Road for a personal injury traffic accident. The driver, Anthony M. Flesher, 19, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin was issued citations for Following too Closely, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. Flesher was later transported to the hospital by the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department due to the traffic accident.

On 08/11/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Sheridan Road and 10th Street for speeding. The driver, Ebonie McElroy, 29, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was issued citations for Speeding, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. McElroy was later released on scene by a notice to appear pending a future branch court date.

On 08/12/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 100 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, Karen E. Webster, 34, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified Webster had a suspended Wisconsin Driver's License. Webster was issued citations for Speeding, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. Webster was later released by a notice to appear pending a future branch court date.

On 08/13/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 13th Street and Sheridan Road for not having a caution flag on a projected load. The driver, Melvin E. Lewis, 55, of Madison, Illinois was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified Lewis had a revoked Illinois Driver's License. Lewis was issued citations for No Flag on Projected Load, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Revoked. Lewis was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 08/14/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 300 block of Sheridan Road for a registration violation. The driver, Denise L. Harger, 43, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified Harger had a suspended Wisconsin Driver's License. A search of the motor vehicle was subsequently conducted by the Officer and a cannabis smoking pipe was located inside of the motor vehicle. Harger was later charged with Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Improper Display of Registration, Operation of Motor Vehicle while Registration was Suspended, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. Harger was later released by her signature pending a future branch court date.

Endangering the Life or Health of a Child:

On 08/12/2011, an Officer observed an intoxicated subject walking near the intersection of 9th Street and Whitney Avenue. During a field interview the Officer learned the intoxicated subject left his three year old child at home unsupervised. The subject, Ryan A. Braim, 25, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Endangering the Life or Health of a Child. The three year old child was turned over to a family member. Braim was later released by a personal recognizance bond pending a future court date.
