PRESS RELEASE


September 21, 2011: Arrest Notices 9/16/11 - 9/20/11

Traffic Arrests:

On 09/16/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 400 block of Sheridan Road for having an obstructed license plate registration sticker. The driver, America Castillo, 33, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified Castillo had a suspended Illinois Driver's License. Castillo was charged with Expired Registration, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. Castillo was later released by her signature pending a future branch court date.

On 09/17/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1200 block of Sheridan Road for not having its headlights illuminated. The driver, Jaime L. Rodriguez, 31, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Rodriguez was charged with Driving without Headlights, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Rodriguez was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

On 09/17/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1100 block of Sheridan Road due to the Officer having previous knowledge that the operator of the vehicle had a suspended Illinois Driver's License. The driver, Leah L. Sheppard, 49, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed Sheppard had a suspended Illinois Driver's License. Sheppard was charged with Driving While License Suspended. Sheppard was later released by her signature pending a future branch court date.

On 09/19/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1200 block of Sheridan Road due to the Officer running the motor vehicle registration and learning the registered owner was suspended in the State of Illinois. The driver, Phillip K. Peters, 34, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified Peters' had a suspended Illinois Driver's License. Peters was charged with Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Driving While License Suspended. Peters was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

Theft:

On 09/16/2011, An Officer was dispatched within the 3000 block of 9th Street regarding a theft of bicycle report. The complaint advised some unknown person(s) took a 20", black in color, BMX style bike with stickers on the frame and rear foot pegs without her consent.

On 09/20/2011, an Officer was dispatched within the 900 block of Charles Avenue regarding a stolen license plate and IPASS report. The complaint advised some unknown person(s) took their license plate and IPASS without their consent.
