PRESS RELEASE


October 3, 2011: Arrest Notices 9/25/11 - 9/28/11

Traffic Arrests:

On 09/25/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Burke Drive for a lane violation. The driver, John T. Malik 19, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Malik was charged with Unlawful Display of Registration and Driving While License Revoked. Malik was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

On 09/25/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 3900 block of 11th Street for Speeding. The driver, Jose G. Perez-Plaza 36, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed he had a suspended Illinois Driver's License. Perez-Plaza was charged with Speeding and Driving While License Suspended. Perez-Plaza was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 09/26/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 800 block of Sheridan Road for a lane violation and failure to signal when required. The driver, Jacques A. Westhoff, 40, of Round Lake was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Westhoff was charged with Failure to Signal When Required, Improper Lane Usage, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Westhoff was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

On 09/27/2011, an officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 7th Street and Sheridan Road for a registration violation. The driver, Crystal D. Nerison, 23, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed her driver's license was suspended. A search of the motor vehicle was conducted by the Officer which resulted in the seizure of scheduled prescription medication and approximately 8 grams of cannabis. Nerison was charged with Operation of Motor Vehicle While Registration Suspended, Driving While License Suspended, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis. Nerison was later transported to the Lake County Jail for a bond hearing.

Home Repair Scam:

On 09/28/2011, an Officer was dispatched within the 100 block of Holdridge Avenue for a report of a home repair scam. The complainant who is elderly advised she agreed to the work and shortly thereafter an adult white male with a beard and three additional subjects began to appear to be performing the work. After the adult male white with the beard completed the work; the complaint wrote him a check in the amount of $330.00. The adult male white later forged the check and made it in the amount of $3,330.00; which was later cashed. This case was pending further investigation.
