PRESS RELEASE


November 1, 2011: Arrest Notices 10/26/11 - 11/1/11

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 10/29/2011, an officer stopped a vehicle within the 500 block of Sheridan Road for a lane violation. The driver, Larry C. Williams, 30, of Chicago was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Williams was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Williams was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

Credit Card Fraud:

On 10/26/2011, an Officer was dispatched to the Winthrop Harbor Police Department lobby for a credit card fraud complaint. The complaint some known subject used his credit card without his consent for subsequent purchases from Target in the amount of approximately $850.00 USD.

Aggravated Domestic Battery:

On 10/29/2011, at approximately 7:21 p.m., the Winthrop Harbor Police Department was dispatched by the Elgin Police Department within the 4900 block of 5th Street regarding a possible domestic in progress. Upon Officer's arrival, the complainant advised the subject, Kevin Betancourt, 19, of Bellwood, struck her in the face three times, where were consistent to the facial injuries observed by the responding Officers. The complainant further advised Betancourt took her cellular telephone when she was attempting to report this incident to police. After Officers reviewed the facts of this investigation with the Lake County States Attorney's Office; Betancourt was charged with Unlawful Interference With the Reporting of Domestic Violence and Aggravated Domestic Battery. Betancourt was later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.

Theft:

On 11/01/2011, an Officer was dispatched within the 700 block of Franklin Avenue related to a theft of a laptop computer. The complainant advised some unknown person(s) took her laptop computer without her consent from inside of her residence. The complainant was unable to provide make, model, and serial number information of the laptop computer.
