December 12, 2011: Notices 11/20/11 - 12/12/11

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 12/09/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the within the 1200 block of Sheridan Road for Speeding. The driver, Maribel Zagal, 22, of Park City was subsequently taken into custody after the officer confirmed her Illinois Driver's License was suspended and suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Zagal later failed field sobriety tests. Zagal was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage, Speeding, Driving While License Suspended, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Zagal was later released by her signature pending a further court date.

On 12/10/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 900 block of Sheridan Road for a lane violation. The driver, Jonathan L. Jones, 20, of Chicago was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Jones was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage, Speeding, Operation of Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Jones was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

On 12/11/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1000 block of Sheridan Road for a lane violation and loud exhaust. The driver, Corey T. Eskew, 25, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer after failing field sobriety tests. Eskew was issued citations for Loud Exhaust, Failure to Signal When Required, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Eskew was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

On 12/12/2011, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 9th Street and Sheridan Road for defective exhaust. The driver, Darell L. Longstreet, 19, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified his Wisconsin Driver's License was revoked. Longstreet was issued citations for Loud Exhaust, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Revoked. Longstreet was later released by his signature pending a future court date.

Liquor and Alcohol Compliance Checks:

On 11/20/2011, the Winthrop Harbor Police Department subsequently conducted tobacco compliance checks at the below listed business establishments. All of the below listed businesses passed and checked identification as required on the underage subject:
Cheap Tobacco 719 Sheridan Road, Harbor Food and Liquors, 644 Sheridan Road, Cheese Shack, 545 Sheridan Road, Harbor Foods, 1235 Sheridan Road, Clark Gas Station, 847 Sheridan Road, Marathon Gas Station, 901 Sheridan Road, G and G Pantry, 1016 Sheridan Road, Tobacco Outlet, 101 Sheridan Road, and United Liquors, 1243 Sheridan Road.

On 12/05/2011, the Winthrop Harbor Police Department subsequently conducted alcohol compliance checks at the below listed business establishments: The following businesses failed the alcohol compliance checks, sold alcohol to the underage subject, and were cited into branch court: Cheese Shack, 545 Sheridan Road, Marathon Gas Station, 901 Sheridan Road, and VFW, 1112 Sheridan Road.

The below listed businesses passed the alcohol compliance checks and refused to sell alcohol to the underage subject:

Stone Creek Bar and Grill, 206 Sheridan Road, Lighthouse Tavern, 935 Sheridan Road, The Tavern on Sheridan, 728 Sheridan Road, United Liquors, 1243 Sheridan Road, Time Out Sports Bar, 1706 Sheridan Road, Clark Gas Station, 847 Sheridan Road, G and G Pantry, 1016 Sheridan Road, and Harbor Food and Liquors, 644 Sheridan Road.
