PRESS RELEASE


January 24, 2012: Arrest Notices 1/11/12 - 1/15/12

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 01/11/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1200 block of Sheridan Road for speeding. The driver, Nathaneil P. George, 26, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. George was issued citations for Speeding, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. George was later released on scene by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 01/15/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 800 block of Lewis Avenue for defective exhaust and an equipment violation. The driver, Shaina C. Tolefree, 19. of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. A search of the motor vehicle was conducted by the Officer which resulted in the subsequent seizure of cannabis. Tolefree was charged with Defective Exhaust, Operation of An Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. Tolefree was later released by her signature pending a future court date.

In-State Warrant

On 01/12/2012, an Officer's were dispatched within the 900 block of Franklin Avenue related to a suspicious subject lying on the ground. The suspect, Kelly J. Massimo, 35, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer's learned she had an active warrant for her arrest from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Massimo was later transported to the Lake County Jail for a bond hearing.

Narcotic Arrest:
On 01/12/2012, Officer's were dispatched within the 1400 block of Sheridan Road for a true fire alarm. While assisting members of the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department, Officer's smelled a strong odor of cannabis from a room inside of the residence. A search was conducted by the Officer's which resulted in the subsequent seizure of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The suspect, Steven E. Santos, 56, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody and charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis. Santos was later released by a notice to appear pending a future court date.
