May 29, 2012: Arrest Notices 4/13/12 - 5/23/12

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 05/16/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 900 block of Sheridan Road for a seatbelt violation. The front seat passenger, Cordarious D. Boyles, 21, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified he had an active in-state arrest warrant. Boyles was charged with Failure to Wear Seatbelt (Passenger) and Obstruction of Justice for initially providing the Officer with a fictitious name. Boyles was later transported to the Lake County pending a bond hearing.

On 05/17/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 400 block of Sheridan Road for Speeding. The driver, Nicholas C. Reed, 24, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed his Illinois Driver's License was suspended. Reed was issued citations for Speeding, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. Reed was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 05/17/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Burke Drive for an equipment violation. The driver, Derek A. Williams, 25, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed his Illinois Driver's License was suspended. Williams was issued citations for No Rear Registration Light and Driving While License Suspended. Williams was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 05/19/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle the 1100 block of Sheridan Road for not having a front registration plate displayed on the vehicle. The driver, Eric Gaines, 41, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed his Illinois Driver's License was suspended. Gaines was issued citations for Not Having a Front Registration Plate Displayed on the Motor Vehicle and Driving While License Suspended. Gaines was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 05/20/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle the 200 block of Lewis Avenue for a lane violation. The driver, Ryan S. Bouy, 24, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety testing. Bouy was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Bouy was later released by his Illinois Driver's License and Personal Recognizance Bond pending a future court date.

On 05/20/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 3100 block of 9th Street for Speeding. The driver, Christopher J. Derohan, 36, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified his Illinois Driver's License was suspended. Derohan was issued citations for Speeding, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended. Derohan was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 05/21/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1200 block of Sheridan Road for a lane violation. The driver, Alma D. Mendoza-Miguel, 34, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified her Illinois Driver's License was suspended. Mendoza-Miguel was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage and Driving While License Suspended. Mendoza-Miguel was later released by her signature pending a future branch court date.

On 05/22/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 600 block of Sheridan Road for a seatbelt violation. The driver, Veronica R. Chiquini, 28, of Morton Grove and the passenger, Sara S. Quiroz, 27, of Kenosha, Wisconsin were subsequently taken into custody after the Officer conducted a search inside of the motor vehicle which resulted in the seizure of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Chiquini was issued citations for Failure to Wear Seatbelt, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Quiroz was issued citations for Failure to Secure Child Under Age 16 in a Child Restraint Seat or Seat Belts, Failure to Wear Seat Belt, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis. Chiquini and Quiroz were later released by a Notice to Appear pending a future court date.

Unlawful Possession of Cannabis With the Intent to Deliver:

On 04/13/2012, members of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department were dispatched to a residence within the 1700 block of 7th Street for a loud music complaint. After Officer's made contact, a strong odor of cannabis was detected by the Officers from inside of the residence. A search were conducted by the Officer's which resulted in the seizure of approximately 115 grams of Cannabis. The subject, Jacob A. Korach, 28, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody. This case was later reviewed by the Lake County States Attorney's Office. Korach was issued citations for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with the Intent to Deliver. Korach was later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.

Alcohol Compliance Checks:

On 05/23/2012, The Winthrop Harbor Police Department conducted Alcohol Compliance Checks with the below listed business establishments utilizing a 20 year old Community Service Officer. All of the below listed businesses passed and refused to sell the alcohol product to the Community Service Officer.

Stone Creek, 206 Sheridan Road, Harbor Food and Liquors, 644 Sheridan Road, Marathon Gas Station, 901 Sheridan Road, Time Out Sports Bar, 1706 7th Street, Clark Gas Station, 847 Sheridan Road, Harbor Lights Tavern, 935 Sheridan Road, G and G Pantry, 1016 Sheridan Road, VFW, 1112 Sheridan Road, and Foremost Liquors, 1243 Sheridan Road.
