On 07/20/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of North Park Avenue and Sheridan Road for a lane violation. The driver, Alejandro Vega-De Jesus, 31, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer learned he had an active in-state warrant for his arrest. Vega-De Jesus was transported to the Winthrop Harbor Police Department for processing. Vega-De Jesus was later transported to the Lake Jail pending a bond hearing.
On 07/21/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1500 block of Sheridan Road for improper lane usage and loud exhaust. The driver, Dwight H. Pritchett, 38, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Pritchett was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage, Loud Exhaust, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Pritchett was later released by his signature pending a future court date.
On 07/17/2012, members of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department were dispatched within the 1300 block of South Park Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. The complaint further advised a sharp Aquos Television, Nintendo Wii Game Console, Garmin Nuvi GPS, ten Wii Games, Multiple DVD's, Blue Ray Disks, Jewelry, Identification Cards, and approximately 8,000 USD worth of US Treasury Bonds were taken from the residence without consent. This case is pending investigation.
On 07/18/2012, members of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department were dispatched within the 600 block of Thompson Avenue regarding a residential burglary report. Officers observed the rear kitchen window showed signs of forced entry. The complaint further advised a Dell Studio laptop, Nook e-reader and a large amount of jewelry was taken from the residence without consent. This case is pending investigation.
Theft Over $300:
On 07/18/2012, an Officer
was dispatched to the lobby at the Winthrop Harbor Police Department
related to a theft report. The complainant advised some unknown
person(s) took a check book from her residence (2000 block of
Burke Drive) on or about July 11th. The complaint further advised
she observed bank statements showing unauthorized transactions
totaling $897.06. This case is pending further investigation.
