July 30, 2012: Arrest Notices 7/24/12 - 7/29/12

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 07/242012, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 9th Street and Lewis Avenue for a lane violation. The front seat passenger, Teresa D. Copeland, 45, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody after the officer conducted a search and located a small amount of cannabis, cannabis smoking pipe, and a scheduled pill inside of her purse. Copeland was issued citations for Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Attempted Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Copeland was later released by her signature pending a future court date.

On 07/282012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 1300 block of Lewis Avenue for a lane violation. The driver, Francisco J. Escamilla-Rangel, 30, of Kenosha, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after the officer confirmed his Wisconsin Driver's License was suspended. Escamilla-Rangel was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage and Driving While License Suspended. Escamilla-Rangel was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

On 07/282012, members of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department were dispatch to a parking lot at a local bar establishment related to a property damage hit and run accident. A short time later, members of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department located the suspected motor vehicle a short distance away from the where the accident occurred. The driver, Dustin M. McGuire, 28, of Beach Park was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer confirmed his Illinois Driver's License was revoked and suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. This case was later reviewed by the Lake County States Attorney's Office. McGuire was issued citations for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Aggravated DUI, DUI with No Proof of Motor Vehicle Insurance, and Driving While License Revoked (Felony Enhanced). McGuire was later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle:

On 07/24/2012, an Officer was dispatched within the 2100 block of 11th Street related to a burglary to motor vehicle report. The complaints advised some unknown subject(s) entered their unlocked motor vehicle and took a Line Six guitar amp with twin 10" speakers and a laptop bag containing a Line Six multi functional guitar pedal. The value of the theft was estimated at approximately $600 USD. This incident is pending further investigation.

On 07/24/2012, an Officer was dispatched within the 900 block of Franklin Avenue related to a burglary to motor vehicle report. The complaint advised some unknown subject(s) entered his unattached garage and took a Garmin GPS unit from his unlocked motor vehicle. The value of the theft was estimated at approximately $400 USD. This incident is pending further investigation.

On 07/29/2012, an Officer was dispatched to the North Beach parking lot complex at North Point Marina related to a burglary to motor vehicle report. The complaint advised some unknown subject(s) entered his unlocked motor vehicle and took a wallet and set of keys. The value of the theft was estimated at approximately $100 USD. This incident is pending further investigation
