PRESS RELEASE


October 1, 2012: Arrest Notices 9/19/12 - 9/25/12

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 09/23/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 13th Street and Sheridan Road for a lane violation. The driver, Raymond J. Stockwell, 32, of Beach Park was subsequently taken into custody after the Officer verified his Illinois Driver's License was suspended. Stockwell was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage and Driving While License Suspended. Stockwell was later released by his signature pending a future branch court date.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle:
On 09/19/2012, an Officer was dispatched within the 1400 block of 2nd Street for a burglary to motor vehicle report. The complainant advised some unknown person(s) entered his motor vehicle without his consent and took approximately $ 200.00 USC. This incident is pending further investigation.

On 09/24/2012, an Officer was dispatched within the 1100 block of Fulton Avenue related to a burglary to motor vehicle report. The complainant advised some unknown person(s) entered his motor vehicle without his consent and took two tool boxes containing miscellaneous tools, two drill cases, and one drill box. The complainant additionally advised the value of the theft was approximately $1,500 USD. This incident is pending further investigation.

No Solicitor Permit:
On 09/20/2012, an Officer was dispatched within the 700 block of College Avenue related to a Solicitor complaint. Upon further investigation an Officer made contact with a Solicitor who failed to previously obtain a permit from the Village of Winthrop Harbor. The subject was issued a local ordinance citation for No Solicitor Permit pending a local adjudication court date.

Aggravated Identity Theft:
On 09/20/2012, an Officer was dispatched to the lobby at The Winthrop Harbor Police Report related to an Identify Theft complaint. The complainant advised some unknown person(s) created a Menards Credit Card in his name without his consent. The complainant additionally advised purchases were made on that card from three different Menards Department stores which totaled unauthorized purchases at approximately $5,006.93

Theft of Bicycle:
On 09/25/2012, an Officer was dispatched within the 700 block of Thompson Avenue related to a theft of bicycle report. The complainant advised some unknown person(s) took their unattended BMX neon bicycle within the 500 block of North Avenue. The complainant further advised the BMX was previously registered in the Village of Winthrop Harbor and had the following identification number affixed to the bicycle (8505-25C). This incident is pending further investigation.

Battery:
On 09/22/2012, members of the Winthrop Harbor Police Department were dispatched within the 1000 block of Sheridan Road related to a battery complaint involving five victims. The suspect, Todd C. Blair, 28, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Winthrop Harbor Police Department for processing. Members of the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department were called to the scene, treated the five victims, and they were released due to having only minor injuries. Blair was issued five non-traffic citations for battery and was later released by a notice to appear pending a future branch court date.
