Arrest Notices - 1/7/13

Traffic Arrest(s):

On 12/21/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 200 block of Sheridan Road for a lane violation. The driver, Jason D. Nielsen, 36, of Sturtevant, Wisconsin was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Nielsen was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Nielsen was later released by a notice to appear pending a future court date.

On 12/22/2012, an Officer stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 9th Street and College Avenue for speeding. The driver, Anthony M. Arnst, 24, of Zion was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Arnst was charged with Speeding, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Arnst was later released by a notice to appear pending a future court date.

On 01/01/2013, members of the Winthrop Harbor were dispatched to the 300 block of Sheridan Road related to a reported battery complaint. After obtaining a description of the offending suspected motor vehicle; an Officer subsequently stopped the motor vehicle within the 1000 block of Sheridan Road. The driver, Christopher T. Miller, 36, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody after confirming his Illinois Driver's License was revoked. Miller was later issued citations for Expired Motor Vehicle Registration, Driving While License Revoked, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Aggravated DUI, and Criminal Damage to State Property. Miller was later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.

 

On 01/06/2013, an Officer stopped a vehicle within the 400 block of Kenosha Road for a lane violation. The driver, Antonio M. Jimenez, 43, of Waukegan was subsequently taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests. Jimenez was issued citations for Improper Lane Usage, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol with a BAC over 0.08. Jimenez was later released by a notice to appear pending a future court date.

Domestic Battery:

On 12/24/2012, Officers from the Winthrop Harbor Police Department were dispatched within the 600 block of Thompson Avenue for a report of a domestic battery. After Officers arrived on location field interviews were conducted and injuries consistent to a battery had been observed. The offender, Randy G. Mink, 48, of Winthrop Harbor was subsequently taken into custody. The facts of the investigation were later reviewed by the Lake County States Attorney's Office and Mink was charged with Domestic Battery. Mink was later transported to the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.

Tobacco Compliance Checks:

On 12/28/2012, the Winthrop Harbor Police Department conducted tobacco compliance checks utilizing a 17 year old volunteer. All the below listed business establishments passed and checked identification as required:

Tobacco Outlet & Gifts, 101 Sheridan Road, Smoke 4 Less, 545 Sheridan Road, Harbor Foods and Liquor, 644 Sheridan Road, Tobacco Shop, 719 Sheridan Road, Clark Gas Station, 847 Sheridan Road, Marathon Gas Station, 901 Sheridan Road, Golden Goose Pantry, 1016 Sheridan Road, Harbor Foodliner, 1235 Sheridan Road, and United Liquor, 1243 Sheridan Road.
