 As a service to
Winthrop Harbor residents and visitors, the Village posts a listing
of Winthrop Harbor garage & yard sales, including dates,
times and locations, here on the community Web Site. There is
no charge to add your sale to the listing, and the only
requirement is that the sale is located within the Village of
Winthrop Harbor.
For shoppers, we encourage you to visit
this page often, as we'll update the list each time a new sale
is added!
Garage sale information should be submitted
no later than one week prior to the date of the sale. All submissions
are subject to review by Village staff*. This service is provided
as a courtesy to our residents, who are also encouraged to advertise
their garage sales in the local media for best results.

Important
Notes:
1. Village Ordinance 154.314(L) provides for a maximum
of two sales per calendar year, with a maximum duration of 72
hours per sale.
2. The
Village Board, in an effort to accommodate requests of the residents,
has agreed to allow the posting of garage and yard sale signs
on a limited, trial basis to determine whether amendments to
the sign code should be adopted. Therefore the following rules
are in effect during the months of June, July, August and September
of 2012:
a. From the first Thursday of each month listed above,
through the Sunday immediately following, residents shall be
permitted to advertise garage sales using off-premises advertising
signs;
b. No such sign may be placed on any Village property
or right-of-way;
c. No such sign may be placed on any property without
the express permission of the owner of the property;
d. No such sign shall exceed 4 square feet in size, including
the fronts and backs of any sign printed on both sides;
e. No such sign shall be placed in any location that presents
a hazard to traffic or pedestrians by blocking any reasonably
necessary sight-line, any safety device or any road sign;
f. The owner of any sign shall remove the sign not later
than 5:00 p.m. on the Sunday ending the advertising period.
