Hello, this is an important message for all residents of Winthrop Harbor. On Saturday morning, May 8th, the Fire and Police Departments will be conducting a special response drill for a simulated boat explosion and fire at North Point Marina. This is a training drill only, and not an actual emergency. The drill will begin at approximately 9 o'clock in the morning, and will be finished by Noon. The drill will involve mutual aid from up to 15 other fire departments and both the Air-One and Flight for Life helicopters. Westfield school on 9th Street will be the staging area for responding fire/rescue vehicles and personnel. Please do not be alarmed by the activity you may encounter in the Village and at the Marina on Saturday morning, as this is only a training exercise and not an actual emergency. Should you have any questions, please contact the Fire Department non-emergency line at 847-872-5957. Thank you for your time, and have a great weekend. |
