| SUBJECT: Vehicle Burglaries |

Hello, this is an important message from the Winthrop Harbor Police Department. Recently there have been a number of burglaries to motor vehicles that are parked in residential driveways. These burglaries have occurred not only at night, but during daytime hours as well. In nearly all cases, the vehicle doors had been left unlocked. The police department reminds all residents that the best way to avoid becoming a victim of theft is to keep doors locked, and avoid leaving items of value in plain view. GPS units, computers, iPods, purses, wallets or even loose change, when visible, can invite trouble - especially when your car doors are unlocked. We also ask that you report any suspicious persons or activity that you may observe in your neighborhood. If you have any such information, please call the police department at 847-872-2131. Of course, in any emergency you should call 911. Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter. Winthrop Harbor Police Department. |
