Welcome to the official Web site of the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department.
Welcome to the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department and thank you for taking the time to visit our website. I hope our site will be an informative and interesting reference for you - and we would also like to hear from you or see you in person at our station!
We take our mission here at WHFD very seriously - " to direct, manage, and perform Emergency Firefighting, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services to the residents and visitors of the Village of Winthrop Harbor and the Winthrop Harbor Fire Protection District." However our mission doesn't stop at performing emergency services. We enjoy serving the community and our visitors in a variety of non-emergent ways; whether offering CPR classes, helping at community events, or conducting public education talks at schools and service groups - we are proudly visible and helpful to all.
Since 1949 our department has proudly served the community with a dedicated group of firefighters - starting with completely volunteer members who dropped what they were doing when the alarm rang, and continuing today with a dedicated group working a variety of part-time hours to ensure a crew is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Whether you are a resident of our fine village, a visitor passing through, or perhaps visiting our famed North Point Marina - the largest on the Great Lakes - we expect the service you receive from us to be top-notch.
So please take a few minutes to browse our website, and get in touch with me or any of our members for more information if you so choose. We now offer a brief on-line satisfaction survey for any of our stakeholders to take advantage of; I invite any of your feedback as it surely will be used to make our department better.

FIRE DEPT. NEWS -
FREE Basic CPR and AED Training -
The Fire Department is now offering basic CPR and AED training to village residents for free! We hope this will increase participation in these classes we offer regularly throughout the year, which could ultimately help to save a life. We will also still offer Healthcare Provider CPR certification for a small fee. Click here for an information pamphlet, and please call the station for questions or to sign-up.
Please tell us how we're doing!
We have a new on-line survey which takes just a minute to complete. If you have received services from our Fire Department, please click the link below to tell us how we did. You may remain anonymous if you prefer. Hearing from our "customers" about their experiences with our service will help us identify areas where we can improve. We appreciate your time in taking this brief survey!
